Amanda’s Awesome Vineyard Bridal Shoot

About a month ago, Amanda and I – and her mom and several good friends – headed out to Raffaldini’s Vineyard about 45 minutes west of Winston for her bridal shoot. Even though it was morning when we started, it was already really hot – and bright – and I have to say, Amanda was all smiles through the shoot! With her friends fanning her between locations we spent about 2 hours working over the really impressive vineyard. You should definitely go if you get a chance, because it really is very nice.

As for the photos? With a backdrop like Raffaldini’s and a warm glowing smile like Amanda’s – how could you go wrong?! Just a few months until her and Jeffrey get hitched at Lake Norman!

Patrick pulls off an amazing proposal to Katherine!

Katherine & Patrick are getting married this November in Southern Pines, but its how they got to this point that is itself worthy of a blog post. Katherine just sent me the youtube of the proposal, and I have to say it is definitely worth watching.
Patrick was able to pull off a proposal you usually only see in Hollywood movies. He was able to convince Katherine he needed her as a last minute stand in for a documentary report that he was filming in NYC at Times Square. He was able to mic her, have a “cameraman” there, and even a hidden camera – the rest, well, you’ve gotta watch for yourself! (When you watch, its hard to tell from the video, but if you look close, you can see the photo posted below this video is the one that he was able to get on the screen – super cool!)

Dave & Amanda + wedding reunions in Hermitage, PA

For the past three years, I’ve had the great fortune of attending a series of weddings which has a fantastic core group of friends. Back in 2006, in Winston-Salem, NC, I photographed and got to know and become good friends with Rob & Angie. Not only was it an awesome wedding, but it was where I started to get to know a lot of their friends – friends who’s weddings I’ve photographed over the past several years, and people who I’ve become friends with as well.

I followed Rob’s groomsman Casey to Washington, DC where he married Siobhan in the coolest (and oldest, I think, in the area) Catholic Church. I had a great time again with Rob & Angie at Katheryn & Dave’s wedding in Corning, NY (blog below). From there I went to San Diego for their good friends Dave & Jeni (check their blog posting below) where we all stayed out well past midnight keeping the reception going well above the San Diego skyline – and also where I met their good friends Dave & Amanda – who just got married a few weeks ago in Hermitage, PA.

You know, its common to see tight friendships with several people, but to see it with such a large group of friends like with these guys is really something special. To see all these friends, going all over the country for each other’s weddings, so happy to be there, so happy to be a part of it, it really is something to see. So how was the weekend? Excellent!

The ceremony was beautiful and the reception at Avalon Lakes was soo nice. The club at Avalon is fantastic – huge trees, fields of green grass, lakes, fountains, geese – everything – they’ve got it. We did a lot of fun group shots outside, and some beautiful one on one shots with Dave and Amanda.

Heading into the reception, I have to say – if there is something fun you’re wanting to bring to your reception, pick up some huge zoot suit hats, massive afro wigs and some 70′s style sunglasses – awesome! Even Dave’s mom got in on the act and put on the hat as she was dancing around.

No doubt the pictures speak to how much fun it was, and how good Dave & Amanda are together. Now, I’m just waiting to see who’s getting married next :)
