We started our day with Stacy and her girls at the Silk Road Salon in Winston-Salem. A great morning – simple, quiet – a perfect location to start your wedding day. We moved over to the Brookstown Inn where both Stacy and Michael were getting ready. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed shooting both locations for getting ready. Silk Road offered some great textures, things to shoot through, and general features around the salon which made for some nice photos. Brookstown is also one of the nicer locations in Winston I think one can get ready in. Great colors on the walls, large open windows – all in all great stuff.

Old Salem is of course a classic location in Winston and always a top notch setup with great service. Amy Grimes of Old Salem did a wonderful job, including a special request to block off one of the old homes from cars parking. It allowed us to get some very nice shots of Stacy and her girls coming out of the waiting house for the ceremony.

Although the nature of weddings seems to be fast paced and schedule oriented, it doesn’t mean great moments aren’t happening all the time. Look below, and check out the photos after the ceremony and before the one of the bridal party. These two shots, which are arguably some of the best of Stacy & Michael, were taken under the bridge as the recessional was happening. You can even see some of the bridal party in the reflection arriving, as we were going to wait for the guests to go to cocktail hour so we could emerge for family photos. 90% was as it happened between the two of them, with 10% from me asking them to stand where you see them. I wanted to use the glass as the backdrop as opposed to the brick. The beauty, though, comes from not interrupting what was that moment of having just said your wedding vows.

The rest of the night was of course excellent. Great food, great music and great friends. Cheers to Stacy & Michael, and thank you for having me at your big day!
