Dedicated wedding blogs are really where it’s at when it comes to current wedding trends, looks and real weddings. Magazines are great, but, ultimately, dedicated wedding blogs are not only completely current, they’re also run by dedicated people who simply love weddings. So when one of these dedicated bloggers picks up on a set of photos for a “Real Wedding” feature, you take notice. After all, they see so many weddings, they can pick and choose as they please. So I’m happy to announce, that Lindsey & Parker’s wedding in Durham, NC at Duke Chapel and The Cotton Room, had been picked up by not one, not two, but 3 prominent bloggers as Real Wedding features! Last December I posted Chris and Dana’s engagement shoot at Fisher Park and two weeks ago, vows were exchanged and they got married!
Our day started at the new Ciener Botanical Gardens in Kernersville, NC. Catherine Henderson, Director of Development at the Gardens, took the time to show me around and explain how they’re putting together a complete complex, capable of having events and weddings , complete with ceremony area and reception hall. It’s coming together nicely and was a great place for Dana and her girls to get ready for the ceremony a few blocks away at the Kernersville Moravian Church.
I should say, I was especially excited about today’s wedding because it brought me back with Dana’s amazing family. What seems like just a few months ago was really a few years ago when I was with Dana’s sister, Sarah, and Byron for their wedding. To see them and catch up with them was so cool – they’re such a great couple and friends. And of course spending time with Dana’s parents was also a blast because they’re such a cool family.
The wedding itself was great with gorgeous flowers and bouquets from Bob Adams Florist. After the ceremony, we spent some time in the back sanctuary taking some really beautiful photos. A quick trip on 40 and we were at the Proximity Hotel for the reception.
As always, the staff at the Proximity was top notch 100%. They were more than happy to accommodate us with all our photo shoot needs before the grand entrance.
The rest of the night was perfect. Chris’s family and friends were a blast and I got to see two great families come together. A special note to mention Dana’s dad gave an exceptional toast, funny, emotional and very touching. We also enjoyed a very tasty cake by the famous Manfred.
As expected, it was tough to narrow the photos down, and we’ve got some fantastic images to show off this beautiful couple. Thank you guys again for having me for so much of your family’s great moments – cheers to you, Chris and Dana!

Last November, I met up with Adam & Jennifer at the American Tobacco District for an early morning, awesome engagement shoot. On Sunday April 17, 2011, I was back with them for what was a fantastic wedding at Duke Gardens.
Everyone started the morning out at the King’s Daughters Inn in Durham, NC. Recently having gone through a complete renovation, this boutique B&B was immaculate. From the one-of-a-kind rooms everyone was getting ready in, to the ground level sunroom, this inn had it all. In addition to the expected getting-ready events, we also had a first look with Adam & Jennifer seeing each other before the ceremony; as well as a tea ceremony and most of the formal photos. I should mention, Jennifer has an extraordinary sense of style. She not only had set up all the details you see (the plates, flowers, chopstick seating arrangements, and so on, but she hand made all the gifts for the bridesmaids. You see those really cool oversized bags in the photos? She bought the materials, cut it out, sewed it, wrapped it. I know everyone was REALLY impressed and thinks she should start an ETSY site selling them).
A shuttle bus took the bridal party to Duke Gardens, where we took a light stroll, got lots of well-deserved attention from everyone at the gardens, and took some more bridal party photos. Heading back to the main center, Adam & Jennifer had a beautiful ceremony at the water’s edge, followed by a great cocktail hour and an amazing multi-course dinner served up by the great Triangle Catering. (This was my second wedding in one month with Michelle and crew from Triangle Catering, and I am really looking forward to a third wedding with them this month when I’m back with her at the Cotton Room).
Stone Age Romeos kicked it into high gear and by 11pm on a Sunday night, the crowd was chanting for one more song. Three songs later, they were forced to pull the plug haha! It was one of those nights where no one left early and everyone could have kept going for hours. Instead, the crowd gathered outside, lit up sparklers and Adam & Jennifer walked out happier than ever.
I should also mention, the beautiful cake was provided by Mad Hatter’s Bake Shop. Flowers were from Tre Bella Florist, and hair was done up by Posh the Salon. High Country Video did an amazing job creating the movie, part of which can be seen here.
